In recent years the landscape at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm (JCHPF) has undergone many conservation improvements, from changes in cropping management operations, to including soil health and cover crop practices; seeding pollinator habitat; and a newly installed wetland to slow sediment, increase habitat and improve water quality. Since 2019, JCHPF has provided the opportunity to serve as a living laboratory for the University of Iowa students and researchers to advance their research and succeed as the next engineers and biologists of the world. Join UI Researchers, students, and local partners on a tour of research demonstrations and conservation projects at the JCHPF. Please follow the website registration to RSVP. RSVPs are not required but are highly suggested.
This event is in partnership with Johnson County, Iowa Valley RC&D, Impact7G, University of Iowa IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering, Iowa Geological Survey, University of Iowa College of Engineering, and the USDA-NRCS.
